Host computer not visible on the guest computer due to browsing disabled.
Cause:
By default, Windows 95 turns off browsing capability when a 'Dial-Up Networking' or a Direct-Cable Connection is installed. With this feature off, the speed of a direct-cable connection will be increased, but computers will not be visible in the 'Network Neighborhood'.
Solution:
On the Host computer, double-click the 'Network' icon in 'Control Panel'. Display the file and printer sharing properties sheet. Enable 'Browse Master'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
'Control Panel'
3) Double-click the 'Network' icon. (The 'Network' dialog box appears.)

4) Click the 'Configuration' tab. (The 'Configuration' tab appears.)
5) Select 'File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks' from the 'The following network components are installed' list box.
6) Click 'Properties'. (The 'File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks Properties' dialog box appears.)
7) Select 'Browse Master' from the 'Property' list box.
8) Select 'Enabled' from the 'Value' drop-down list box.
9) Click 'OK'. (The 'Network' dialog box reappears.)
10) Click 'OK'. (The 'System Settings Change' dialog box appears, prompting you to restart the computer to enable the new settings.)
CAUTION: To prevent data loss, save all open files, and exit all applications before restarting.
11) Click 'Yes' to restart the computer.
NOTE: Computers which are members of a workgroup cannot browse the 'Entire Network' for resources located on another TCP/IP subnet. You must use the NET USE command to connect to a remote resource located on another subnet.
